CHABADABADA tisse l’histoire d’une rencontre entre deux protagonistes interprétés par des figures continuellement différentes, INCONNUES, identifiableS uniquement par leurs SILHOUETTES en actions. Un récit samplé à partir de plus de soixante extraits de l’histoire du cinéma. L’ensemble des séquences mises bout à bout forment un scénario inédit retraçant une mémoire potentiellement collective OU AU CONTRAIRE PERSONNELLE, deS instants précédant la rencontre, À L’ISSUE INCONNUE.

CHABADABADA weaves the story of an encounter between two protagonists played by continually different figures, identifiable only by their actions. A story sampled from more than sixty excerpts from the history of cinema. All of these sequences, taken together form an original scenario that traces a memory—potentially collective, or on the contrary deeply personal—of the moments leading up to an encounter with an unknown outcome.

Empruntant son titre à la chanson de Duke Ellington et John Coltrane, l’exposition
« In a Sentimental Mood » propose un voyage à travers différentes facettes de l’humeur sentimentale.
Réunissant des œuvres de Félix Gonzalez-Torres, Jiri Kovanda, Myriam Mechita, Daphné Navarre, Marylène Negro, Jack Pierson, Alessandro Raho et Jimmy Robert, huit artistes de générations et de nationalités différentes, l’exposition imaginée par la commissaire Vanessa Desclaux interroge tour à tour l’universalité et l’extrême singularité du sentiment amoureux.
Composée de films, d’installations, de sculptures et de portraits, l’exposition fait cohabiter le désir et la nostalgie, la sensualité et la mélancolie, évoquant la complexité d’une expérience vécue à travers une iconographie contemporaine. Chacune des œuvres de l’exposition développe une approche unique, puisant dans des registres gestuels, visuels ou sonores afin d’interroger les limites du langage face à la profondeur d’une émotion.
« In a Sentimental Mood » propose d’évoluer dans différents espaces au sein desquels une constellation d’objets et d’images emporte le visiteur dans différents univers où se recomposent un désir, un souvenir, une dédicace, une déclaration, une solitude, un fantasme, un corps aimé ou amoureux.
La réinvention de la lettre d’amour, l’exploration du potentiel poétique d’un objet ou encore l’évocation d’une étreinte sont autant de manières qu’ont choisi les artistes pour exprimer les multiples états de la rêverie sentimentale.

Borrowing its title from the song by Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, In a Sentimental Mood offers a journey through the many facets of sentimental feeling.
Bringing together works by Félix Gonzalez-Torres, Jiri Kovanda, Myriam Mechita, Daphné Navarre, Marylène Negro, Jack Pierson, Alessandro Raho, and Jimmy Robert — eight artists from different generations and nationalities — the exhibition, curated by Vanessa Desclaux, explores both the universality and the radical singularity of romantic emotion.
Featuring films, installations, sculptures, and portraits, the exhibition interweaves desire and nostalgia, sensuality and melancholy, evoking the complexity of lived experience through a contemporary iconography.
Each work develops a distinct approach, drawing from gestural, visual, or sonic registers to question the limits of language when faced with the depth of emotion.
In a Sentimental Mood invites the visitor to wander through various spaces in which constellations of objects and images unfold, transporting them into multiple realms where desire, memory, dedication, declaration, solitude, fantasy, or a beloved — or loving — body are recomposed.
The reinvention of the love letter, the poetic potential of an object, or the evocation of an embrace are among the strategies the artists use to express the multiple states of sentimental reverie.
