Deux danseurs, une musique, une installation conçue et présentée à la galerie Hussenot dans le cadre d’une exposition antérieure curatée et réalisée par les artistes Christophe Amaid Pierson et Xavier Mazzarol (dec-2011). HEARTBEATS est une vidéo conçu à partir de trois éléments qui se rencontrent pour la première fois, sans scénario préétabli, dans une configuration libre à l’image des expérimentations de John Cage et Robert Rauschenberg. Inspirée par le principe de Master Piece N°0 (1951) de Cage, où chaque composant se déploie de manière autonome, cette performance se fait le théâtre d’une simultanéité entre gestes, sons et images, incarné par les danseurs Steve Gaudet et Marioara Cheptene, deux figures emblématiques de la danse sportive mondiale.
À l’image de Theatre Piece No. 1 (1952), où l’action se déploie sans narration linéaire, chaque fragment de l’œuvre existe indépendamment tout en participant à une expérience collective filmique.
Une histoire sans narration, d’une simplicité apparente, dénuée de toute progression dramatique. Un début qui boucle sur sa propre fin, en loop, où le passage d’un monde à un autre ne tient qu’à un changement de lumière. Dans cette activation du vide, aucun événement ne se manifeste pleinement ; tout est là, dans la tension de ce qui pourrait advenir, sans jamais n’être totalement saisissable.
HEARTBEATS a été présenté pour la premiere fois au public en 2022 au musée de la Photographie de Pékin et de Xiamen lors de l’exposition personnelle Au risque de se perdre

Two dancers, one piece of music, an installation conceived and presented at the Hussenot Gallery as part of an exhibition curated and produced by artists Christophe Amaid Pierson and Xavier Mazzarol (dec-2011): three elements that come together for the first time, without a pre-established script, in a free configuration reminiscent of the experiments of John Cage and Robert Rauschenberg. Inspired by the principle of Cage's Master Piece No. 0 (1951), in which each component unfolds autonomously, this performance is a theater of simultaneity between gestures, sounds, and images, featuring dancers Steve Gaudet and Marioara Cheptene, two-time world champions in dancesport.
Like Theatre Piece No. 1 (1952), in which the action unfolds without a linear narrative, each fragment of the work exists independently while participating in a collective experience, here filmic.
A story without narration, seemingly simple, but devoid of any dramatic progression. A beginning that loops back to its own end, in a discreet circularity, where the passage from one world to another depends only on a change of light. In this activation of the void, no event fully manifests; everything is there, in the tension of what could happen, without ever being fully grasped.
HEARTBEATS was first presented to the public in 2022 at the Beijing and Xiamen Museum of Photography during the solo exhibition Au risque de se perdre (At the Risk of Getting Lost)
